Ergonomics for Industrial Workstations

Working environments can differ significantly and ergonomics in the workplace is not a one size fits all solution. Industrial workstations and specifically ergonomics in factories and manufacturing environments are often not addressed and optimised, resulting in reduced productivity, a lack of motivation, increased fatigue and even injury.

Optimising these industrial workstations are normally best achieved with doing an assessment of the various working environments within the area and defining the needs of the specific working stations. These assessments can be done by qualified Ergonomists who are trained to assess and optimise these working environments. There are, however, small changes which can be achieved with using certain ergonomic products, which can make a difference to the daily comfort and ergonomic correctness of the workers. One of these are industrial standing mats, also known as anti-fatigue mats, which assist with reducing the strain of standing for extended periods of time during the day. Task chairs such as operators’ chairs and height adjustable wobble chairs can also make a significant difference to the workers’ correctness and comfort.
